365 Challenge Day 260 – Yoga: Earth

In our yoga teacher training our teachers have talked about the elements, and how they relate to doing yoga.  We practiced teaching speaking to this element.  Earth focuses on the “base”, the feet, or whatever is touching the ground. For example, in childs pose, bringing attention to the forehead and the knees touching the mat, grounding down, relaxing into the Earth. Or in a standing posture, feeling the stability of the feet, the base, on the Earth.  There is a stability to Earth, but too much can lead to being stuck and stagnant, so it is always important to balance with the other elements.  It was really fun to add this to our repertoire!
